The hollow skulls hung from the limbs of moss covered trees clunked softly in the little wind that managed to find its way through the thick, warm swamp forest. Not a living being stirred above the surface; only dead leaves and feathers dared move in this no man's land.
The murky silence was broken as the opaque, green and brown water splashed against the shore as a massive, yellow eyed crocalu heaved himself onto the land. Both irisless eyes glowed bright yellow as he made his way towards his petite swamp witch. The red master of the land turned to eye her pet as he moved closer, and half smiled as he flopped tiredly at her side. He was nearly twice her size, though she didn't flinch at his presence. Dirinjr obeyed her and the other Stars, and no one else.
Dihatti yawned boredly. Nothing had wandered into her domain in days, and she didn't feel up to finding some poor creature to harass.
"What to do, Dirinjr?" she asked softly as the reptile's eyes closed and he made a low sound akin to... a purring kitten.

The sleek bushes rustled slightly in the humid air as a mare of impressive size moved with an eerie grace, dragging something heavy. She paused at the opening to the clearing, fixing beady red eyes on the reddish mare and the giant...lizard...that lay next to her.
Jaws clenched in a vice grip around the back of a tiny filly's neck, the beast's brain slurring together thoughts on if these creatures were friends or foes. The nagging voice that she had yet to subdue since her escape from society reminded her that foes were bad; foes with giant crocodiles were worse. She let the filly drop, it's fragile corpse hitting the muddy soil with a fwump, and she stared uselessly at the body. Her coal-black pelt blended surprisingly well with her surroundings, but her brilliant red markings and stench of decay that hovered over her like a plague would alert anyone within a two mile radius.
Her eyes flicked to the mare again, wondering for a brief moment if her reaction to this intrusion would be hostile. Maybe she would sic her lizard on the tired black mare. This brought a slight smile to her blood-caked muzzle. Then she returned to the more-important business of examining the dull tawny filly, muttering words to herself in somewhat of a drugged-sounding slur, nosing roughly at the blood-drenched mane and neck.
(YAY. Drugs are cool. 83 ((Not really xD)) )

OOC: YAY DRUGZ0RZ. Not really. KIDDIES. DON'T DO DRUGS LIKE OUI.
Intrigued and confused, the white-marked red horsefish cooly eyed the newcomer and her corpse prize. The fatigued lizard at her side produced a hissing growl from deep within his throat and began to move towards the murky water, luminescent eyes fixed on the dark, bicolored female. He had to go get the trespasser for his master, just like he'd been taught. A moment before his scaled muzzle touched the water's surface, the gold maned female tapped him with her pierced fluke. The beast instantly stopped, figure relaxed. He returned to a docile, nonthreataning state for the time being... or at least as nonthreataning as something of his size becomes.
"Hello there," the female greeted softly, voice melodious and sweet in the humid air. "...And who might you be?"

(YEAH. Oui's a bad person. Setting bad examples for the chilluns. Dx)
Spotting the reptilian creature heading in her direction, her body tensed and she stood stock still, fighting back her mind's shrieks of protest at refusing to run. When it stopped moving, she relaxed, but only slightly. Her bloodshot eyes then turned to the other mare and she studied her for a while, then spoke, sounding a little worse for the wear.
"My name...you can call me Oui." Her hoarse voice fell quiet in the still air, and she tossed a mess of burgundy locks from her face to get a better look at who she was talking to. "I was taking this child to safety and she..." Her eyes moved to the dead peophin once again and she shook her head. "She died on me." She ended the sentence curtly as if it had been the filly's fault, and not the razor sharp fangs that glinted in the filtered light as Oui spoke. "I didn't mean to intrude...just passing through, maybe resting for a bit." Her eyes ventured around her surroundings; from the mare to the lizard to the filly and then to the dark foliage that blocked most of the sun. "Or maybe I'll stay. This place has a quaint feel." She blinked and looked to the mare again. " Perhaps you could point me in the direction of a neighboring herd...miss..?" Oui fell silent with her question and waited for the mare's name.

((Aww - Dirinjr purrs! )) The distorted sounds of movement on the thick breeze played with the attention of a dark figure. The near-stagnant masses of water and forests of ghostly trees had been abandoned by most forms of life long ago. One brief, incomprehensible whisper provoked two twisting green flames. Although they radiated no heat, an eerie, unnatural light flickered about the swamp illuminating cold, black eyes and sending flashes of light reflecting off of his silver ornaments. As the flames began to fade they streaked out into the thick, mossy trees to the beast’s right. The smallest flash of satisfaction crossed the stallion’s harsh expression as he followed the dimming path of light.
Despite the likely possibility of danger in these parts, he made no effort to dampen the clinking sounds of his jewelry – though out of pride rather than bravery. After clearing the last tangles of the undergrowth he stopped abruptly, one eyebrow raised. His gaze had been met by one diminutive witch, a giant crocalu and two bloodied bodies.
((EDIT: Haha.. I was so slow with that xD I started typing when there were only two posts...))

"This land is mine, and so the Fogland is my herdland... however, no one has belonged to the herd since my father's days." The melody of her voice halted abruptly and the petite red sea horse appeared to twitch uncontrollably. She continued after a few seconds. "But you are welcome to join me here. Dirinjr will not hurt you." Both hypnotic green eyes flicked to the resting reptile on the muddy shore. "You may call me Dihatti. What might your name be?" she finished, gaze now on the bloodied filly near the maroon-maned mare.
Upon hearing the bold clink of the newcomer's jewelry, Dihatti's attention instantly swung to the dark-furred stallion just as he stopped. Startled, the massive crocalu whirled and lunged at the larger horsefish, jaws snapping closed powerfully. The small witch's body went ridgid and she shouted something in a peculiar, weaving language. Instantly, the yellow eyed leviathan stopped his attack and remained completely still at the feet of the dark stallion.
"My appologies," she said quietly, "Welcome."

Eyes stuck wide with shock, the stallion blinked slowly to gather himself. Despite what his mind cried, he was adamant to never reveal his weakness. In a vain attempt to restore some dignity, he arched his muscular neck out and strode confidently closer to the strange congregation. Shaking a few rebellious dreadlocks from his face he sized up his ‘company’.
“Think nothing of it,” he muttered in his deep, hollow grumble.
Still desperate to feign a sense of power he mock-bowed to the giant reptile, clenching his teeth as he exposed the back of his neck to the beast.
“Do you greet all your guests that way?”

Oui watched the mare speak and opened her mouth to say something else, but then the giant monster the mare had called Dirinjr suddenly lunged at...something. She squinted, suddenly able to make out a shape of a stallion. it seemed this place was suddenly coming to life. "Sounds like a plan...I think I'll join if you don't mind."
"Dihatti...what a nice name. Pleasure to meet you," She said simply, eyes still fixed on the stallion. She didn't often see many things that looked so suddenly intimidating...besides Dirinjr and Dihatti, of course. Wary of the newcomer, she paced a bit and then stopped suddenly, fixing her eyes on the ground in front of her. "Who are you?" Her thoughts assumed automatically that he either had quite an ego or must be daft, barging in here in such a way. She hadn't actually officially 'joined' this herd to the point of official papers, but already she felt protective of the lands. She turned her gaze to Dirinjr, who was now resting again. Her confidence must have been spurred after hearing that she had a giant lizard on her side...

The small red mare laughed at the newcomer's question and shook her head a little. Through the strange laugh, however, her eyes remained umoving and cold. She pulled herself around to face the jewelry-adorned stallion and the tucked both legs under her chest once more.
"Dirinjr generally greets others in such away... at least newcomers. Myself, only when the mood strikes me." The last portion may have had the cadence of a joke, but the myriad of skulls dangling from the trees generally suggested otherwise.
OOC: Kai, your icon makes me laugh. xD And sorry this was short, guys, I wanted to do it before class. ><

The stallion shifted his weight on his two front legs unconsciously, unnerved a little by the witch’s soulless laugh - though it may have been for a number of other reasons.
Suddenly he clenched his eyes shut.
Moments of stress had a negative effect on this particular peophin. They were brief opportunities for the voices in his head to free themselves from their suppression. A life of completing deeds with dark motives can never truly be escaped, in this life or the next.
He spoke abruptly to drown out their surge.
“Lastrond,” he uttered with a nod, his voice held from wavering as a result of years of practise. The muscles in his brow relaxed as he regained control. “I’m not from around here…”

Like a parrot, Dihatti one eye'd Lastrond curiously. What was his brain doing...? Slightly confused, the petite mare wandered closer to get a better look at the dark stallion. She wanted in his head, this strange creature.
"You okay... Lastrond?" she inquired, though more to pick at his brain more than to see if he was truely fine. Curiosity had gotten the better of her, and general manners had flown out the window.
